Details of using the pelletizer

The pelletizer is a molding machine that can shape materials into specific forms. It is widely used in various fields such as chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, building materials, mining and metallurgy, environmental protection, printing and dyeing, ceramics, rubber, and plastics. Based on its structure and working principle, it can be further classified into rotary belt condensation granulators, flat twin-screw extruders, rotary drum drying granulators, counter-roller dry granulators (referred to as counter-roller granulators), toothed granulators, disc vacuum condensation granulators, etc. In the chemical industry, the pelletizer is widely applicable to various materials with melting points (softening points) below 300°C that require condensation granulation. Examples include sulfur, paraffin, rosin, asphalt, anhydride, stearic acid, maleic anhydride; resin products such as phenolic resin, petroleum resin, modified resin; products such as hot melt adhesives, synthetic soap, urea, additives, rubber, and plastic auxiliaries.

However, we must pay attention to the details of using the pelletizer. Here, our company introduces a few points for everyone:

 1. After turning on the switch, allow it to preheat for a period of time before turning on the lubricating oil pump and other switches.

 2. If the main machine is operating normally, you can start adding materials. When the operator fills the material, be sure to watch carefully to ensure that there are no impurities in the material, and also keep a good grasp of the temperature.

 3. If the material does not form into a strip and sticks to the die head when starting the twin-screw granulator, it is due to the die head temperature being too high. It will return to normal after a slight cooling. Under normal circumstances, there is no need to stop the machine.

 4. The water temperature should be controlled between 50-60°C. Too low a temperature can lead to breakage, while too high a temperature can cause sticking. It is best to add half hot water when starting the machine. If the water temperature exceeds 60°C, add circulating water to prevent overheating. The circulating water should be softened water or distilled water.

 5. During the operation of the machine, it is forbidden to use metal objects to clean the material at the opening of the cylinder.

 6. When granulating, be sure to evenly pull the strip before entering the counter-roller, otherwise it will damage the granulator. If material is vigorously emitting from the exhaust vent, it indicates that impurities have blocked the filter screen. In this case, the machine must be stopped immediately to replace the mesh. The mesh can be selected from 40 to 60 mesh.

 7. The heating temperature depends on the softening point and melting temperature of the resin. The higher the melting point, the higher the required heating temperature. The temperature should be about 5 degrees Celsius higher than the melting point.
